WhatsApp doubles the users limit in Group video call to 8

In an important move to compete with group video call platform, Zoom, Whatsapp has increased its user limit in Group Video Call to 8 from 4 earlier. In a post by Facebook said “More than 700 million daily actives use WhatsApp and Messenger for calling. In many countries, calling has doubled since the Covid-19 outbreak began, wrote Zuckerberg. “To help you stay connected with your whole family and groups of friends, we’re doubling the number of people who can participate in a group video call from 4 to 8 on WhatsApp.”

Importance of Group Video conferencing has never been more important with need of Work for Home amid lockdown. This had led to increase in consumption of group video conferencing platforms. Thus Facebook is hoping to get a chunk of these users with increased WhatsApp group call user limit.

The company said it will start rolling out an update from next week with support of 8 members while group call.
