The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization, as well as other related organizations. This day marks founding of WHO. Each year, the day is celebrated with different theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organization.
This year, WHO honored the contribution of ‘Nurses and Midwives’. The frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic are being protected by several nurses, doctors, and more health workers.
According to WHO statement, “Comprising more than two-thirds of the health workforce in the WHO Western Pacific Region, nurses are critical in responding to health needs in all settings and across the lifespan. In the 2020 International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, the World Health Day is an opportunity to highlight the work of nursing and midwifery around the world, while celebrating this workforce as one of the most valuable resources of every country.
World Health Day is also an opportunity to advocate for commitment and resources to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce, improve their education and working conditions, and enable them to work to their full potential.”
Showing gratitude to the work done by these brave warriors, many brands released their World Health Day brand posts on their social media handles. Here’s some of them: –
